Man, 33, Killed By Car Trying To Cross Route 3 In East Rutherford, Police Say
A 33-year-old man was struck and killed by a car on Route 3 Thursday night, Sept. 26, police said. Officers were called to the eastbound lanes of the highway at midnight where the pedestrian had been struck by a 2004 Toyota Camry while trying to cross the highway, ERPD Capt. Jeff Yannacone said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

Alexa Lee Dubiel, a 30-year-old Ringwood resident, died on Friday, Sept. 20, according to her obituary from the Kimak Funeral Home website. Alexa, formerly of Ridgefield Park, was an artist, who modeled clothes for RevMatch and participated in a campaign to be Inked Magazine's 2022 cover girl, her Instagram page show. A Rahway highway contractor recently agreed to pay $950,000 to resolve allegations it improperly represented itself as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise to obtain federally funded contracts, authorities said. From Oct. 2016 to April 2019, MV Contracting secured several contracts funded by the Federal Highway Administration set aside to remedy ongoing discrimination in federally assisted highway contracting markets, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said. A 53-year-old Elizabeth man recently admitted to his role in a fraud scheme involving COVID funds, phony tax filings and a fake loan application, authorities said. In June 2020, Richard Fadraga submitted a fraudulent application for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), which resulted in him getting $110,000 from the Small Business Administration in COVID-19 relate proceeds, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said. Three 13-year-olds, two boys and a girl were arrested on Thursday, Sept. 26 after making threats against schools in Newark, authorities said. The threats were intercepted by police, leading to their arrest, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. The three teenagers each face charges of terroristic threats, cyber harassment, creating a false public alarm, and harassment, Fragé said.
